The CID arrested Aftab on December 27 last and informed the Special Task Force of UP Police. He was produced at Alipore court where the UP Police secured his transit remand to take him to Lucknow. During his confinement with the CID, Aftab alleged that he was tortured brutally. He also alleged that the CID officials took a mobile phone, a wrist watch and Rs. 500 from him which he is yet to get back. He also met SHRC Chairman Shyamal Sen who asked him to submit a detailed account of what happened to him under police custody.

Aftab along with his mother Ayesha Begum called on Buddadheb Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, who assured them that he would look into their allegations against the CID and bring the guilty officials to book.
