Having completed more than 75 years of independent India, we are claiming that we are passing through our Amrit Kal or Golden Period. In addition, we have become the most populous country of the world. But we are still far away from being a successful and ideal society. People are still being used as cannon fodder and dumb and deaf animals.

There has been more rhetoric and little promotion of the cherished Constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. These values have been given only lip service. All political parties have been pampering the baser instincts of human mind. The North East is exploding, Jammu and Kashmir is under siege, Kerala is under attack, falsehood and lies are being peddled in the name of the true story of Kerala with a view to denigrate and defame an entire community, the second largest segment of the country. In this background should be studied the rejection of the BJP in the Southern State of Karnataka.

In spite of nerve-breaking campaign led by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and use of questionable methods of propaganda and appeal to religious sentiments and all sorts of tactics, the voters of Karnataka have voted for the cherished values enshrined in the Constitution of India. This must serve as an eyeopener for the ruling party and its leaders. Is it not highly shameful that the falsehood was tried to be marketed as the real story of Kerala. On deeper analysis they will feel that the highest person in the BJP dispensation should not have referred to this bundle of lies as true story.

The intellectuals on the other side of the battleline are pointing out that Kerala has less than one per cent below the poverty line people. It has the highest literacy and the least infant mortality and a robust economy. Its citizens working in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Gulf countries send 36 per cent of foreign exchange earning to the national exchequer. It has the lowest crime rate for at least six months. The director of the film was propagating that it is a story of 32,000 women who were forcefully converted to Islam and forced to join terrorists in West Asia who ended in countless graves in Yemen, Iraq and other countries. When countered in courts, they confessed that they do not have any authenticated figures but based the film only on cases of three women. Thus, they confessed, that it is a cinematographic projection of those three women. The BJP leaders, especially the Prime Minister, must realise how much they have spoiled the minds of the common people by propagating such a false film. This false story will leave long lasting effects on the minds of common citizens.

Now it is the responsibility of the new dispensation in Bangaluru to work unitedly for peace and progress, security and all-round prosperity of the State and its people and for defeating all negative trends and removing the poison which has been injected in the lives of the communities. We pray that Karnataka succeeds in its efforts and leads like a beacon of all that is good and noble in human nature.
