Pantaloon Femina Miss India (PFMI) 2010, concluded in Mumbai on April 30. While the media glorifies the contest with headlines “Hat off to B’lore, Pune Girls – the winners”, my head, as an Indian, hanged in shame looking at contestants, dressed in bikinis. We Indians too are aping the West without minding what morally virulent effects it will yield to our young generation. It may cause an increase in cases of abduction, gang rape, abortion, adultery, prostitution, lesbianism, etc. all further resulting in AIDS and other such venereal diseases to which our dailies, weeklies and periodicals bear testimony. The Supreme Court verdict that there is no wrong in live-in-relationship also brings into light sick mentality of a morally contaminated society. Our multi-religious society leaders should come forward to vehemently condemn such amoral acts.
