The historical Babri Masjid was demolished on 6th December 1992. It was reportedly said by Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then president of India, that it was the second biggest disaster after the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. This also should be remembered that the idols were surreptitiously placed in the Masjid on the darkest night of the year, 22-23 December 1949. The demolition was followed by riot after riot and conflict upon conflict.

The forces which believe in divide and rule had started an ominous campaign of lies that this Masjid was constructed in 1528 after demolition of a Ram temple which existed at its site. History refuses to endorse this concocted story. The Babri Masjid Verdict delivered by the Supreme Court bench presided over by CJI Ranjan Gogoi says that there is no proof that any temple or religious structure existed at the Babri Masjid’s site.

The frenzied forces falsified history and claimed that Babri Masjid’s site was the actual birthplace of Sri Ramachandra ji. They believed in instigating the people and provoking their religious sentiments. Mr. Lal Krishna Advani, the leader of BJP, started his rath yatra from Somnath. He was provoking the people throughout the yatra by saying repeatedly: “Iss Liye Hum Yeh Kehte Hain” and the frenzied crowds were responding by shouting: “Mandir Waheen Banayenge”. The demolition day was certainly the darkest day in the history of Independent India when the truth was buried deep, and our democratic republic was shaken up to its foundations. The months long rath yatra had left a trail of riots, killings and bloodsheds. The frenzied forces, which did not have any constructive plan for development and prosperity of the country, hatched a sinister plan based on false narratives to capture power and finally succeeded in this.

Much water has flown down the Ganga, Jamuna and other rivers. The BJP representing the Hindutva ideology finally succeeded in capturing power. It was expected that at least then it would chalk out a meaningful programme for comprehensive development of the country. It started its rule in 2014 and declared that it believes in Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. In 2019, it added Sabka Vishwas also. But the people of India find neither SaathVikas or Vishwas. They passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in 2019 by saying that they wanted to facilitate grant of citizenship to the oppressed people of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. They excluded Muslims in this Act. This is a clear case of discrimination against Muslims. It was a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of our Constitution.

In December 2019, Muslim women started Shaheen Bagh agitation against discriminatory CAA. In no time it spread to the farthest corners of the country. In a way it gave inspiration to the yearlong farmers’ agitation. Now the deprived and neglected 1.4 billion people of the country have decided to usher in a just and justice loving government. The writ on the wall must be read by the ruling dispensation.
