Congress leader Promod Tiwari, while speaking on Faizabad communal violence in UP Assembly, stated that it was due to intelligence and administrative failure. What was new in this argument? The Times of India and The Hindu had already mentioned these failures. The protest by the Congress on this issue in assembly doesn’t make any sense as it was just a formality. The Congress has been playing communal card for more than six decades. It never took any action on the perpetrators of the communal violence and never acted on the recommendations of the commissions appointed after almost every communal riot. The latest example is communal riots in Gopalgarh (Rajasthan) and genocide of Muslims in Assam where both state and central governments failed to do the needful. As for Samajwadi Party, the party and its government should take strict action against the criminals. Going through the recent happenings in UP, Mulayam Singh should pay more attention to the state instead of concentrating on Delhi.
