If a woman tortures another in the family, then the perpetrator will be held guilty under the Domestic Violence Act and tried the same way as a man.
Clearing any confusion over the purview of the Domestic Violence Act, the Delhi High Court on June 3 held that the law can also bring to task women for inflicting violence on women. The court was adjudicating a public interest litigation filed by Varsha Kapoor, who was booked under the Act for allegedly torturing her estranged daughter-in-law.
