The move of the members of Kashmir’s all-girl rock band to quit singing after they came to know that ‘their act is an un-Islamic one’ is highly appreciable (Radiance 24 Feb-2 March). It shows the level of their devotion to and adoration of the religious values—or rather their own values in the society. In fact, it is a slap on the faces of those who try to present women as a mere commodity as well as being a lesson to those who ignore all religious values in order to expose themselves as liberal or rather ‘secular’. One may argue with the idea of the writer that “Islam strictly prohibits singing and dancing,” but there is no way one can allow the very means that are solely responsible for the epidemic of immoralities and vulgarities in the society in the name of entertainment or so.
