A city court once again rejected Congress leader Sajjan Kumar’s anticipatory bail plea. Kumar is an accused of 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Two separate chargesheets were filed against him on January 13, this year. The CBI had contended that witnesses in the riots are apprehensive. Special CBI judge P.S. Teji refused to grant any relief to the former MP who has been issued summons for his alleged role in the carnage that followed the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The court allowed the contention of CBI Special Prosecutor Y.K. Saxena who vehemently opposed the bail application on the ground that the witnesses were apprehensive. The court also dismissed similar bail pleas of six co-accused in the cases.
