June 5 marked the World Environment Day, the most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. WED activities take place all year round but touch the climax on June 5 every year, involving people from all walks of life who take action to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. Though we also tend to be its part, however, our action doesn’t really resemble the agenda set to be environment friendly. Though it sounds traditional, one must gear up once again and try these following steps to propagate the message of Going Green:
Pick up a few pieces of trash and remember to recycle what you can;
Leave cars and vehicles at home for a day. Reduce your CO2 emissions; plan your trips in advance and walk, bike or use public transportation;
Plant a native or climate adapted tree – a tree will consume CO2 and produce oxygen, and adapted species will not require much irrigation once established;
Drink water instead of coffee – it takes an average of 35 gallons of water to produce one cup of coffee; and
Make your home more energy efficient and consider on-site generation – ask Green Build Energy Group about wind and solar.
