Human Welfare Trust Hosts Workshop on Education and Career Guidance

To train the resource persons working in the field of education and career guidance throughout India an 8-day long national level workshop was organised recently by Human Welfare Trust, New Delhi at Al_Jamia Al Islamia Santhapuram, Kerala.

More than 35 participants from different parts of the country took part in the workshop.  One of the major objectives of the workshop was to provide practical exposure and experience for the participants.  It was really a workshop in literal as well as practical sense as it was totally interactive and activity-based.  The major themes and topics covered during the workshop were dreaming, goal setting, planning, career guidance and counselling, general counselling, leadership development, personality development, project planning and NGO management.   Apart from lectures and interactive sessions there were visits to different organisations and institutions working in the field of education and career guidance to get first hand information.

The whole workshop was conducted and supervised by resource persons from CIGI (Centre for Information and Guidance India), a leading NGO working in the area of training and career guidance.  Different competitions like presentations, report writing, project planning were also there as part of it to inculcate the competitive spirit among the participants.

The dignitaries who provided opportunities for the participants to interact included Prof. K.A. Siddique Hassan (Deputy Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind), Dr. K.M. Aboobacker (Director, CIGI), Mr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed (Secretary, Education, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind), Mr. T.K. Abdullah (Member, Central Advisory Council, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind), T. Arif Ali (President, Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Zone), Mr. V.K. Ali (Vice Chancellor, Al Jamia Al Islamia, Santhapuram), Mr. P.C. Hamza (Former President, SIO India), Dr. Abdussalam (Director, Al Jamia Al Islamia, Santhapuram).

While among the resource persons were Mr. Kabeer N.V. (Chief Mentor, CIGI), Dr. A. B. Moideen, Mr. Sabique M.K, Mr. Abdul Salam K.A and Mr. Faisal P.K, to name a few.

The workshop concluded with the formation of different groups and committees to carry out this task in a more organised way and try to establish organisations or centres like CIGI in their areas. Some assignments have been also given to the participants like submitting reports to their organisations and making suitable projects to implement the Vision-2016.
