Human Welfare Foundation in coordination with PM Foundation Kerala and Fatima Health Care Group, on October 9, organised an award distribution ceremony and felicitated 100 meritorious students belonging to the Muslim minority. The event took place at the Hamdard Convention Centre of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.

Mr. Saeed Advic addressing the gathering
Presided over by Mr. Sayyid Hamid, Chairman Human Welfare Foundation, the function commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’ān by Qari Abdul Mannan. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Rafeeque Ahmed, Secretary Human Welfare Trust. The primary aim of the Foundation in distributing scholarships is to inculcate the importance of education among the parents and to motivate the students.
The students who scored more than 60% marks in Board Examination for the academic session 2011 were felicitated by presenting a cash award of Rs 1000 and a Certificate of Merit each. The whole idea behind organising such functions is to instil in students confidence and to motivate them towards education which in turn would empower the community.
The effort of HWF of organising award distribution functions started in the year 2009 when it organised the first award distribution function in Lucknow, UP. Recently the award functions have been organised in three other states namely Assam, Bihar and West Bengal and HWF is eying to take it to 14 other states of India as well.
The Chairman, Mr. Hamid said, “The function would instil confidence in the students and would help in causing educational awakening in the Muslim Ummah. It is impossible to construct a healthy society without education.”
Mr. Shaikh Shoaib, National Sectary, SIO presented memento to Mr. Safdar H. Khan, Chairman, Delhi Minorities Commission, who in his speech talked about the other various educational scholarships for the minorities which are provided by the government and urged the students to take advantage of those scholarships as well.
While addressing the students, Mr. Shoaib stressed that the Qur’ān is the basic source of knowledge and wisdom. He suggested to the students to nourish their knowledge by reading and appreciating the pearls of wisdom, scientific knowledge and moral lessons given in the Glorious Qur’ān.
It should be kept in mind that the HWF introduced the Vision 2016 programme in order to improve the societal condition at the national level. Vision 2016 is an ambitious plan to bring about transformation on the social landscape of the country. The plan envisages the establishment of multifarious institutions across the country, with a strong human resource of committed volunteers and recognised community leaders. Vision 2016 encompasses various departments namely health, education, employment, legal aid, etc. and work is going on in all the departments. The Foundation aims to build one thousand schools across the country for quality education, and along with it has several other schemes under its belt which can provide a positive impact on the society.
Sana Zafir got the first award for Academic Excellence-2011, which was awarded by Mr. Sayyid Hamid and Mr. Saeed Advic. More than 100 students, both girls and boys were awarded by the chief guests.
The list of the dignitaries who attended the programme includes Dr. Maazin from Embassy of Qatar, Prof. Akhtar Siddiqui, Ex-Chairman NCTE; Abdul Waheed President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi & Haryana; Musharraf Hussain Siddiqui President, Al-Hind Foreign Service Agency, New Delhi; Dr. M. Prof. K.A. Siddique Hassan, General Sectary of HWF, in his concluding speech, motivated the students for performing better and said those who have received the awards today should now gather courage and remain ready to take the daunting task of changing the society by bringing a positive change to it. He said they are trying to develop the individuals who (if Allah wills) will take the cudgel and lead the Muslim Ummah from the front.
Later on Mr. Amir Ansari (Career Counsellor, Mumbai) presented power point presentation for career guidance of students. The power point presentation helped the students in grasping the contents very easily. The presentation was made part of the award distribution function so that the students may get acquainted with the opportunities that they have in front of them and what would be the best field for them to grow and excel. A very crucial point was made that the students’ interests and hobbies should always be taken into consideration while choosing any future stream or field.
The award function was very lively and all the students looked enthused with optimism and positive energy. The award function no doubt raised the morale of the students and gave them the required push to perform even better and espoused within them a new zeal to work for the betterment and the development of a new sound society so as to provide a positive impact through their efforts.Top of FormBottom of Form
