With Mamata Bannerjee swearing in as the first woman Chief Minister of W.B, people have, after a long spell of 34 years, overthrew the Left party, reducing it to a vulnerable opposition party. Call it negative vote or the development issue, people had been desperate to have a change of government. Under the rigour of wave, Budhadev Bhattacharya had to reap the humiliating defeat in the just concluded assembly election. Undoubtedly, Singur and Nandigram were the two blunders committed by the erstwhile government. However, Mamata Bannerjee did not lose chance and started fishing out in trouble waters. One may ask if West Bengal underwent re-industrialisation with industrialist, Amit Mitra in the new cabinet.
