Terming the idea of Lokpal to be a constitutional authority as a ‘game-changer’ exhibits that our politicians took the serious issue raised by fasting Anna Hazare like a political game!
Jan Lokpal Bill floated by India-Against-Corruption (IAC) is in public domain now for about nine long months that too officially with full seriousness from at least 9th April 2011 when Union government set up a Joint Drafting Committee with Anna Hazare and his associates for preparing a draft for a mutually agreed Lokpal Bill. Except NCPRI, no other person or body ever expressed any desire to present their views on a proposed Lokpal Bill. It is a matter of great satisfaction that IAC and NCPRI now have common and similar approach on three basic demands.
Union ministers having participated in Joint Drafting Committee played a big fraud with the nation when their draft is rejected by all including even Rahul Gandhi. Lokpal Bill should be passed in the same monsoon-session even if it is made a constitutional body. However in case, it may not be immediately possible for making Lokpal a constitutional body, then it should be passed by taking good points of bills floated by IAC and NCPRI. Lokpal can be turned into a constitutional body later rather than further delaying it in want of necessary majority and modalities.
