The scientists at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory have confirmed that the Ishrat Jahan encounter, which took place in the year 2004, was fake. The CFSL has sent the report to the Special Investigating Team, which will reportedly make its final report, based on the revelations made by CFSL. It should be noted that SIT is investigating the case on the orders of High Court, which has asked it to submit its report on the encounter by November 18.
In 2004, Ishrat Jahan was killed by Gujarat police in Ahmedabad along with four other men. The Gujarat police claimed that the deceased came to Gujarat for the purpose of killing Narendra Modi and said all had connections to terrorist organisations. However when the relatives of the deceased questioned the encounter and demanded CBI probe, the case went to the High Court, which formed the SIT to investigate the matter.
