In an extension lecture series, organised by Idara-e-Tehqeeq-o-Tasneef-e-IslamiAligarh, the Head of the Department of Deeniyat Aligarh Muslim UniversityDr. Mufti Mohd. Zahid Ali Khan spoke on “Inter-Religious Dialogue among Global Religions.” He introduced the Semitic (Islam, Judaism and Christianity) and non-Semitic (Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism) religions and said it is Islam which for the first time called people to study and come to the points of commonality. The Quran states: “Come to common terms as between us and you,” and hence provided the platform for unification. The learned speaker gave the reference of Maulana Hifzur Rahman and said most of the discussions in Iman-e-Mufassal are the same between Muslims and Jews. Quoting Al-Beruni, he said after the attack from Mahmood Ghazni, hatred and anger were more common in the upper class Hindus. And the lower class Hindus had always complaints for the upper class Hindus and was more tolerant towards other religions.

In his presidential lecture, Professor Abdul Haq Ansari, an expert in the field of comparative religions, said an intensive and exhaustive analytical study of Indian religions is the need of the hour, as the cohesion and understanding between Hindus and Muslims can be increased on the basis of the commonalities.
