Gauging the fear to the minority over undue interference of government in Madrasa education system, Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangimahali, Naib Imam of Lucknow, said the attempts to introduce Central Madrasa Board as a watch dog of the existing Madrasas all over the country would face a stiff opposition in the country. Speaking at the seminar on issues of minorities in Islamic perspective at Darul Uloom, he said rumours that the Central government was favourably disposed to the proposal of imposing a uniform system monitored by a Central Board are indeed alarming. This could be an insidious design to have a foothold first. If allowed, graver consequences could follow.” Various speakers at the conference, including Saibab Alwani, professor, Islamic and Arabic studies, Northern Virginia Community College, Dr Mohsin Usmani of Hyderabad, Tauquir Alam, AMU among others also mulled over changes in politico-religious, social and economic issues at all level of civil societies and need for the ethnic minorities to preserve their respective identities.
