The Sports Authority of India approved Jamia Millia Islamia as an extension centre, an official said on October 4. “The university will be used as a Special Training Centre and Special Area Games Schemes for junior level trainees in sports like hockey, athletics, volleyball and football,” Jamia media coordinator Simi Malhotra said. The trials will be held on October 13 and 14 for students between the age group of 14 to 19. Under the scheme, the schools and colleges which have adequate infrastructure, took part in sports and produced national and internal international sports persons in the past, will be listed as eligible.
