In a press statement Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari vehemently condemned the recent publishing of a cartoon of the Messenger of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) by French magazine, Charlie Haibdo. While claiming the act as a “media war” waged against Islam and calling it a conspiracy to hurt the sentiments of Muslims, he urged the French government to take stern actions against the magazine.
What do the newspapers and magazines, which are constantly targeting Islam, get by doing such unlawful irreligious and divisive acts, Maulana questioned. He said they themselves have to ponder and think over their actions. Maulana challenged that if the media thinks that by doing such inhuman acts they can dent the image of Islam and its great Prophet, then they must change this mindset as daily the newspapers are telling the opposite story. He appealed to people to shun their perverted attitude and try to understand Islam and the life of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) which would be better for them.
