Dr. Murad Ali, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) media adviser, on 29 April said: “Egypt’s judges must reform the judicial authority themselves. A few of them have question marks over their heads, suspicions of corruption or passing politicised sentences in favour of the counter-revolution. These few are determined to complete ousted Mubarak’s march of corruption, dragging all judges into untold troubles. “We look forward to an updated, amended draft law on judicial authority to be submitted by top judges through the upcoming Justice Conference. They should be aware that the Egyptian people as a whole suffer from the defective current justice system. This is the judges’ chance to participate and achieve one of the people’s main objectives in the January 25 Revolution.”

Earlier, in a meeting with the heads of the judicial bodies on 28 April, President Mohamed Morsi praised the idea of a justice conference presented by Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, and called for an immediate start of preparatory work for the conference, and invited all judicial bodies to meetings at the Presidency in order to prepare for the justice conference under his own chairmanship.
