Two years after he donated a huge sum of money barely few days before his death, the dream of a local philanthropist Abdul Gafoor finally came true when Maulana Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi laid the foundation stone of the Jamia ITI College in Malegaon on July 6.
“The establishment of this ITI college has become possible only because of the huge money the local philanthropist Abdul Gafoor had donated to me with a promise to use them for the education of the local youths,” Maualana Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi said while paying tribute to him after laying the foundation stone of the college.
“Today I am fulfilling the promise I had made two years back to Abdul Gafoor. The building construction would be complete by next six months and the academic activities would begin immediately after that,” he added.
According to Maulana Ayyub Qasmi, one of the local coordinators, Abdul Gafoor, a local businessman and owner of a textile mills, was impressed by the work of Maulana Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi done in the field of education. Hence he approached him in 2009 and donated 10 million Indian rupees in cash and in the form of lands with a request to use the amount for the education of the Malegaonians.
