Media One Channel, first of its kind from Kozhikode, began its telecasting in grand style projecting its motto of truthful news with virtuous entertainment programmes. This channel is the gift of Madhyamam Daily to the society as they are celebrating their 25 years in Value-based Journalism. Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony dedicated this channel to the society at its launching programme in Kozhikode on 10 February.

The occasion was witnessed by more than ten thousand people in ‘Swapna Nagari’, a ground in Kozhikode city. Mr. Antony, after pressing the launch button, addressed the audience, wishing all success to the “new born kid of Madhyamam family”.  He said the motto of the channel “Truth” and “Virtue” has attracted him a lot. “In this extremely competitive media field it is a herculean task to go ahead with this motto of Truth and Virtue,” he said.

“I hope your victory in this endeavour. You should be in the winning side and should never be a failure,” Antony expressed his genuine expectations about the channel in the midst of loud round of applause from the crowd. Madhyamam Chairman T. Arifali presided over the function. He said that Media One is the result of essential and natural progress of the Madhyamam ventures. “We usually give names to our dreams. We also named our dream.  It is this dream of becoming the best channel in India that prompted us to name it as Media “One”. “Truth” and “Virtue” will be the slogan of Media One”, he explained.

Chief Minister of the state Oomen Chandy inaugurated the function. Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurated the head office of the channel in Kozhikode and Industries Minister P.K Kunjali Kutty inaugurated the news studio.

Minister for Culture K.C Joseph launched the Media One official website and famous Industrialist Gulfar Muhammadali inaugurated the programme studio. Film Director Ranjith published the signature music of the channel.

Renowned writers M. Mukundan and P. Valsala, CPI National Council member Binoy Viswam, Jamaat-e-Islami National Deputy Ameer Prof. K.A. Siddiq Hasan, BJP National council member Adv. P.S Sreedharan Pillai, Welfare Party State General Secretary K. Ambujakshan, Industrialists Azad Moopan and P.V. Abdul Wahab, Gulf Madhyamam Editor V.K Hamza Abbas, Swami Guru Ratnam Jnanan Tapswi, Bishop Doctor Joseph Faar Thomas, South Kerala Jam’eathul Ulama State secretary Thodiyoor Muhammed Kunji Moulavi, Kerala Nadwathul Mujahideen State Vice President P.K. Ahamad, Shabab Weekly Editor Mujeeb Rahman Kinaaloor spoke on the occasion. Madhyamam Media One editor O. Abdurahman made the concluding speech.

Media One M.D. Dr. Abdul Salam Ahamad welcomed the audience and Deputy C.E.O M. Sajid conveyed thanks to the gathering. Literary Figure Vaikom Muhammed Basheer was paid homage with a special programme named “Nanmayude Apaaratheeram” (Great Shore of Virtue).
