Dr. Zafarul-Islam Khan, Working President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat, the umbrella body of Indian Muslim organisations, including Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, All India Shia Conference and Indian National League, said on July 14 that Indian Muslims strongly condemn the criminal and coward bomb blasts in Mumbai.
Condemning this terrorist attack, he said security agencies must not leave any stone unturned in probing this attack and bringing the criminals behind it to justice. He commended Union Home Minister’s statement that the security agencies are not ruling out any outfit inimical to the state and country.
He also cautioned sections of media and police who have started blaming certain organisations even before the probe could take off. This, he said, only distracts the investigations and has proved wrong in the case of many previous terrorist attacks.
Mr. Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, strongly condemning the serial blasts in Mumbai, expressed grief at the incident and demanded the government to conduct a high-level inquiry into the blasts to bring the culprits to justice.
The Jamaat leader drew the attention of the government on the clumsy performances of the investigating agencies in such incidents, and called on it to check why security forces have failed in their responsibility to protect public lives and property.
He called upon the government to review that a section of the media and some persons have started the blame game by making speculations even before the government’s official statement on the cause and motive of the incident. He said that all irresponsible speculations should be avoided to stop creation of the communal atmosphere.
He also expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the blasts.
The Welfare Party of India, in a statement, expressed shock and grief over the bomb blasts in Mumbai that killed 23 people and wounded many.
Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, General Secretary of the party, in a statement, conveyed condolence to the relatives of the killed ones. He also congratulated the Mumbaikars for standing up to the need of the hour and in reaching out with all assistance and relief measures.
The party regretted that some parties used this occasion for playing dirty politics. “Need of the hour is to stand united and bring out the real players behind this devilish act. A professional, non-partisan and preconception-free enquiry is to be conducted. Failure from the part of the law enforcing and intelligence agencies is also to be probed. Any connection between the recent killing of the journalist and the after events also should come under this enquiry. Pre-conceived statements from some corners will not be allowed to thwart the real and clear direction of an impartial enquiry,” the statement said.
The party asked the government to provide all medical facilities for the injured and due compensation for the relatives of those killed.
Movement for Peace & Justice (MPJ) Maharashtra, in a statement, said the serial bomb blast is a barbaric and dastardly act of terrorism.
“It is an evil design to destabilise, divide and disrupt our country and society. But we the people of this great democratic country resolve to fight this act of terrorism and anti-social elements with tolerance and perseverance,” the statement said.
The MPJ termed the blast as a ‘conspiracy against our country’ and demanded that it be unearthed and perpetrators of such a heinous crime be punished and brought to book.
The MPJ also appealed to all citizens to maintain peace and work for stability of our society.
All India Milli Council Rajasthan General Secretary Abdul Qayyum Akhtar Advocate strongly condemned the Mumbai serial bomb blast. Terming it as an inhuman act, the Council demanded harshest punishment for the perpetrators of this heinous act. “We are shocked and express our sympathy with the victims’ family. Killing innocent persons is not justified and it is a barbaric act. Those behind this act do not belong to any religion.”
Media Secretary of the Council Mujahid Naqvi Advocate said: “It is an attack on our country and we all stand united with our countrymen. Those who have executed this act should be dealt with strongly. We cannot just keep on sitting with these recurring blasts. The government should now act and the culprits including those who are the mastermind should be punished. The deplorable act of taking innocent lives can only be an act of cowardice that aims to create fear in the community.” Naqvi added: “The ideology of the evil perpetrators and those like them has to be challenged for the common good of all.”
Fr Cedric Prakash sj, Director of Ahmedabad based organisation Prashant, said: “We strongly condemn the blasts in Mumbai! Violence of any kind and on any one, must be eschewed! Violence is NO answer for any injustice! The perpetrators must be brought to book immediately and be severely dealt with.
“We condole with all those who have lost a loved one, and pray that those injured, may have a speedy and complete recovery. Let us all, in the spirit of solidarity, ensure that peace and harmony prevail!”
The Indian American Muslim Council, an advocacy group dedicated to safeguarding India’s pluralist and tolerant ethos, strongly condemned the bomb blasts in Mumbai that claimed the lives of 21 people and injured over 141. Three blasts in Dadar, Zaveri Bazar and Opera House, all densely populated areas of Mumbai, have been confirmed as terror attacks during rush hour in the metropolitan city. IAMC has called upon people of all faiths to come together to condemn this horrific violence against civil society, and cooperate with law enforcement in bringing to justice the culprits of this evil act. “Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the survivors in this difficult hour”, said Shaheen Khateeb, President, IAMC. “This cold-blooded killing of innocent people, appears to be aimed at stoking sectarian tensions in a city known for its cosmopolitan outlook”, added Mr. Khateeb. IAMC called upon the Home Ministry to conduct a thorough investigation into the blasts, and ensure that the culprits as well as those that inspired them are exposed and brought to justice. IAMC also called upon everyone to refrain from a rush to judgement until the results of the investigation are known. Several bomb blasts in recent years, led to innocent youth from a specific community being thrown into prison, and still struggling to secure justice, even after the real masterminds confessed. Once the culprits of the Mumbai blasts are identified based on evidence, IAMC called for their prosecution to the full extent of the law. |
Council of Indian Muslims – UK (CIM) has also strongly condemned serial blasts in Mumbai. “We condemn these attacks on innocent people by bloodthirsty terror mongering beasts. Our thoughts go to the families of the victims among whom there would be women who would have been widowed, children would have been orphaned and the elderly parents would have lost the only support to them.” CIM’s Chairman Munaf Zeena said in a statement on July 13.
“Indians have repeatedly displayed admirable maturity on such tragedies in the past and have refused to fall prey to the plans of those who want to spread communal hatred and push the country into sectarian violence. We hope and pray that they will again maintain usual sobriety and fail the plans of the sadist cowards who enjoy death and destruction. We urge the Indian Government to deal with the culprits with iron fists but also instruct the law enforcement agencies to refrain from witch hunting.” Zeena added.
