Listening to recorded Islamic speeches landed a Muslim taxi driver in trouble. The incident happened when the taxi driver listening to Islamic speech while driving drew suspicion of a woman sitting in his taxi. The speech caught the attention of the woman and thinking of him being a terrorist, she registered a complaint in Tardeo police station, Mumbai. The police took hold of the taxi driver, Ghulam Sarvar Hashmi, who was observing fast and interrogated him with absurd questions related to different terrorist organisations; it was followed up by some physical torture. The police released Hashmi after long interrogation, but that happened only when the damage was done. Mr. Abu Asim, state president of Maharashtra Samajwadi Party strongly condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the guilty police officers. Asim demanded that in future no Muslim should be detained without having proper proofs against him.
