A delegation of the Rajasthan Muslim Forum which met Acting Governor Shivraj Patil seeking his intervention in the recent Gopalgarh violence returned empty-handed. Members of the Forum said they were astounded and disappointed with Patil’s justification of the action taken by the Congress government. The five-member delegation raised the issue of continuing violence against Muslims and Christians in the state reaching its zenith in the horrific incident of September 14 when policemen joined the rioters in firing at the Gopalgarh mosque, killing the people praying inside. The Forum reiterated its demand for the removal of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal for their failure to protect the lives and properties of minority. The delegation comprised Forum convener Qari Moinuddin, president of Dalit Muslim Ekta Manch Mr. Abdul Lateef, National Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Mr. Mohammed Saleem and activists M. Nazimuddin and Haroon Rashid.
