After 64 years of independence India indeed has made its presence felt in the global arena and emerged as a challenging power and a fast growing economy, however this is only one-sided view. The other side is that still there are myriad numbers of people yet to get basic needs, as basic as drinking water. The residents of Shaheen Bagh, Abul Fazl, Batla House and Zakir Nagar areas of New Delhi are facing the acute problem of water from quite a long time. Residents are angry with the administration and said chief minister is either oblivious of our situation or is turning a blind eye to our needs. Residents claim that the private water plants which provide drinking water for the area (of course at a high price) are backed by the M.C.D. and the M.L.A. and they have actually cut the water supplies of the area so as to make them earn handsome profits from the suffering locals. There are total of 110 plants which are providing a good source of illegal income for the authorities.
