The Welfare Party of India asked the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre to step down in the wake of the heavy hike of petrol price that will make life of common people worse and will lead to unbearable rise in their standards of living. Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, General Secretary of the party, in a statement, said that the central government has forfeited all its moral rights to continue in power. The “cruel” third anniversary gift of UPA II has proven that the Congress government has succumbed to the pressure of corporate and oil giant companies, while selling out the common men.
The rise in no way can be justified when global crude oil prices exhibit diminishing tendency. The government should have reduced the customs and other tariff on imported crude oil to minimise the burden falling on common citizen, said Dr. Ilyas.
