The rape and murder of a B Pharmacy student Ayesha Meeran in December last has turned into a mystery which the Vijayawada police have not been able to crack. The case has created ripples as the suspects in the sensational case include K Satish, grandson of Minister for Municipal Administration Koneru Ranga Rao. After having drawn a blank in DNA and handwriting tests to nab the culprits, who had even left behind a note at the scene of the crime in Durga Hostel, the police have subjected Satish to three polygraph tests.
According to a report, in an indication that there could be some powerful people behind the incident, Ayesha’s mother Shamshad Begum and father Syed Iqbal Shah have allegedly received a threatening phone call. The parents, who are staying in Hyderabad meeting important politicians to seek the support in the case, received a phone call asking them to remain silent or face the consequence. The unknown caller contacted the parents over their mobile and asked them to put an end to their hue and cry or see their younger daughter meet a fate worst than that of Ayesha. The parents have so far met several leaders including the Chief Minister YS Rajsekhara Reddy, former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, A.P State Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Subhashini Reddy, Women’s Commission member and many others.
