The Ministry of Defence, on 27 March, ordered a probe into the termination of the research fellow, Aejaz Ahmad Mirza, from Defence Research and Development Organisation. Mirza was terminated from the organisation after the police arrested him for his alleged link with a terrorist organisation. But, he was released later as the National Investigation Agency did not file a charge sheet against him.

DRDO had no complaint about Mirza since he joined in January 2012 until he was arrested in September 2012. In the termination letter dated 12th Feb. 2013, DRDO mentioned no reason for his termination. PCI chief, Justice Katju, earlier demanded from the government to reinstate him to his prior post at DRDO as he was released innocent.

After Mirza was released on bail, Justice Katju demanded from the government to reinstate him to his DRDO post as there was no proof that he was involved in any anti-national or illegal activities. Some MPs have also protested his termination.
