Professor Kodandaram, MLC, and Professor Riaz, Chairman of State Libraries, met with Dr. Khalid Mubashir Zafar, President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana, Telangana, at the JIH Telangana Headquarters in Hyderabad on September 19. The meeting aimed to address pressing issues affecting minority communities.

Dr. Khalid Mubashir-uz-Zafar, President of JIH Telangana, highlighted mismanagement in minority residential schools, urging the government to fill reserved Urdu teacher positions with qualified candidates and address vacancies for Urdu lecturers. He presented a detailed memorandum outlining these concerns.

Professor Kodandaram expressed his agreement with the challenges and emphasized the importance of collective efforts to advocate for good governance, not only in Telangana but across South India. He acknowledged the influence of fascist forces and reiterated the need for continued support of the Congress government to maintain an inclusive regime. He noted that the current government faces financial difficulties, with significant debt and need for better communication and reform.

Professor Kodandaram and Dr. Zafar also discussed the need for transparency and fair representation across communities, stressing the protection of Waqf properties and the government’s responsibility in safeguarding minority rights. Concerns were raised about the state’s delayed responses to communal incidents. There was a consensus on establishing a communication channel between the government and NGOs like JIH, which are active in social work and community service. The meeting emphasized avoiding dependency on intermediaries and building direct links with authorities.

Attendees also discussed severe backlog of DSC posts, unfulfilled post-matric scholarships, and challenges within TMRIES infrastructure.
