The Only Available Straw to Them

Apropos your Editorial captioned ‘The Kashmir Files’ Promotes Hate and Hostility by E.A. Aslam (Radiance Viewsweekly, 27 March – 2 April, 2022), I would frankly say that the Editorial focuses upon the prevailing poisonous situation comprehensively. Every right-thinking person will share Aslam’s views that “having failed in every aspect of governance and economic development, the only available straw to them is hate, suspicion, communal tension.”

So far as the media reports are concerned, the crowds who are watching the film are raising their voice for revenge against ‘ghaddars’ and ‘anti-nationals’. It is not difficult to understand who are targeted with these venom-coated words. Aslam has rightly warned the BJP to consider that their policy of Hindus versus Muslims will destroy not only the social relations, fraternal feelings and inter-community trusts, but will pave the way to destroy the country itself.

In the concluding paragraph, the writer has rightly opined that the ‘ruling party’s hate campaigns may inflame the sentiments, arouse passion and let loose a flood of hostilities against all peace loving citizens’. And this will ultimately tear apart the social fabric and push the country towards the brink of ruination.

Recently, some youths from among the crowds coming out of a cinema in the Behala locality of Kolkata, started shouting “Hindu bhai be alert and vigil and stand up to avenge the atrocities inflicted upon by the particular community”. One can imagine where we are heading to.

It must not be forgotten that Hindus and Muslims are but two shining eyes playing their specific roles jointly. One must not try to break any one of the two for vested interest. If one is broken, the whole body is affected severely. And, this will ultimately break the nation into pieces. It is, therefore, imperative that we remain united in spite of manifold diversities. “Na samjho gey toh mit jayogay ai Hindustan walo’n/ Tumhari dasta’n tak na hogi dastano’n mai’n” (O, the inhabitants of Hindustan, must understand, otherwise destruction will strike the door and you will not be mentioned in the annals of narrative”).

‘The Kashmir Files’

With reference to the above film, I would like to express my great appreciation and enthusiasm to the editorial comments by Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Aslam for his heart-touching feelings and expression of calling the film ‘purely politically motivated’, to arouse communal tensions between two communities, that’s all, divide and promote hate and hostility.

Access to Clean Drinking Water

Access to clean drinking water may not seem a luxury for us but for 1/4th of the world population it is still something which they cannot afford. Nearly 2.2 billion people are hankering for a clean drop of water. Clean drinking water is very crucial for maintaining a disease-free life. Because of a lack of clean drinking water most African nationals are reeling under ever mounting problems.

At a time when some people are thinking of colonising Mars, it is so shameful that before perfecting the world we live in, we are thinking of inhabiting another planet.

On the occasion of World Water Day on March 22, I can only hope for a world which is blessed with clean drinking water. All eyes will be on the developing nations for their contribution in solving this problem. Nothing can be perfect but still we can work towards perfection, can’t we?
