Over 100 RSS activists stormed into the office of a Kannada daily at Hubli on October 5 and obstructed its functioning for more than three hours, charging the daily with unnecessarily drawing the name of RSS into a controversy. The agitators led by Sridhar Nadiger, joint organising secretary (Karnataka north), who barged into the office around 12 noon, enquired with the staff about the name of the person who has reported the news. This caused fear among women and other employees who ran out of the office. The agitators, who stated that the report has shown the RSS in poor light by dragging it into a controversy involving a BJP worker, demanded an apology to be published. The activists also “allegedly” abused the staff members in foul language. Finally, they withdrew their protest at 3.30 pm after the newspaper promised to carry a clarification with regard to the report.
