Earlier this month RSS ideologue KS Sudarshan met Kalbe Sadiq, a prominent Shia cleric in Lucknow. The two leaders talked about changes in the electoral system in order to keep caste and communal factors at bay from influencing the elections. Shia cleric and vice-president of All India Muslim Personal Board said that caste and faith of the candidate should not form the criterion of voting. The duty of the voter is to cast its vote in favour of an honest and deserving candidate, without inclining towards caste or religion of the person, he said.

Reacting on the sudden cordiality shown by RSS towards Dr. Kalbe Sadiq, the Babari Masjid Movement Coordination Committee claimed it as a move to separate Shias from the Muslim community to fulfil its objective. The convener of the BMMCC, Mr. Syed Shahabuddin expressed suspicion about this sudden extension of olive branch from the former RSS Chief. He said the committee feels that this is perhaps the prologue to the revival of the effort by the Sangh Parivar to separate the Shia community from the Babri Masjid Movement and to prepare the ground for the take-over of the entire site of the demolished Masjid for fulfilling its objective of constructing the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir thereon. As in the past they have offered an alternative site for a Masjid outside Ayodhya. This proposal has been on the table for many years and has been rejected repeatedly by the Movement as well as by all Muslim organizations including the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

The BMMCC recalls that before the Demolition, and even thereafter, there have been several rounds of discussion between Hindu leaders, including the late Pramacharya and the present Shankaracharya of Kanchipeetham. But all these discussions failed because the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement was not prepared to make any compromise and insisted on the Muslim side surrendering the entire site of the Babri Masjid in order to enable it to concretize its objective. The Committee reiterates that after the Allahabad High Court Special Bench Judgment of September, 2009 both sides have filed several appeals to the Supreme Court & that in the circumstances there is no scope for negotiation until after the Supreme Court decide the appeal. The Committee also likes to place on record that the Babri Masjid belongs to the Muslim community as a whole and not to the Shias alone.  Since the Shia claim was judicially rejected in 1946, no Shia leader or organization is competent to negotiate on the site with the RSS or the VHP, the BJP or any Hindu organization. The BMMCC requests the Central Sunni Wakf Board and All India Muslim Personal Law Board to reject any overtures of the Sangh Parivar and cautions the leader of the Shia community not to fall into their trap.
