A two-day workshop on ‘Vision 2016’ was held on July 8 and 9 at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind headquarters. Jamaat’s state Presidents and Assistants participated in the programme, which commenced with the recitation of Holy Qur’an followed by inaugural speech of Jamaat Ameer Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari.
Citing Qura’nic verses, Maulana Umari emphasised the importance of rendering service to the poor, needy and the downtrodden. He reiterated that Allah has promised paradise for those who believe in Allah (Iman) and do service to mankind. That’s why Jamaat has mentioned it in its Policy and Programme. “Service to mankind is the mission of the ‘Vision 2016’ and entire Jamaat would support and cooperate in this venture,” Maulana Umari asserted.
Addressing the workshop, Jamaat’s Naib Ameer Prof. K. A. Siddique Hassan instructed the state representatives to introduce ‘Vision 2016’ to their cadre on a wide scale and devise various programmes at state levels in the four-year plan of Vision 2016. He briefed the participants about the activities which have been conducted till now across the country. He also highlighted the activities of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) in the filed of human and civil rights.
The city President of Hyderabad North, Khalid Mubashir Zafar did a power point presentation on ‘How to work in selected downtrodden localities’. He shared his practical experiences of social service. Another informative presentation was given by Mr Abdul Jaleel, Director of CIGI on ‘Career Guidance and educational counselling.’ While Khaja Shahabuddeen of IRW delivered speech on how to train volunteers.
Arshad Ajmal, a social activist from Patna and Mr H. Abdur Raqeeb, convenor of Islamic Banking delivered thought provoking speeches on Micro Finance and Islamic Banking and Finance respectively, followed by a lively interaction.
Dr Muhammad Rafat, President JIH Delhi & Haryana, Dr Shakil Ahmed of APCR and Mr Mujtaba Farooq, Secretary JIH also addressed the workshop on legal rights, constitutional rights and safeguards and suggested what role Jamaat would play in these fields.
In the concluding session of the workshop, state representatives expressed their views, suggestions and remarks on the workshop and Vision as well.
Former Ameer Jamaat Maulana Sirajul Hasan appreciated the efforts and guiding the participants, he emphasised, “We have to be ready to adopt new ways and means to fulfil our mission. Every movement faces various phases and stages; so our cadre should not be dithering to adopt the next stages or phases of the movement as Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless and greet him) and his companions swiftly adopted state affairs at the next stage in Medina, after giving 13 years Dawah in Makkah.”
Maulana Jalaluddin Umari released a book, A Guide to Uplift Minorities and delivered concluding speech. Maulana Umari lauding the efforts made by Prof. Siddique Hassan related to Vision 2016, said, “This workshop helped in widening the vision of our cadre about the Social Service and Service to Mankind.” Advising to participants, he said, “We have to be aware all the times about the schemes and facilities for the welfare of Muslims, downtrodden and backwards peoples granted by Government and non-Government institutions so that such people’s rights can be protected.”
He also instructed the cadre to do new experiences and learning from others within the limitation of Islamic principles, “We have to learn always Good things from others as Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless and greet him) has said, Wisdom is believers’ lost asset so wherever find, try to get it.”
State representatives also participated in various interactive sessions and group discussions and discussed the important aspects in educational, economic and social fields of the Vision 2016.
