The situation is getting worse day by day in Somalia. The famine has so far claimed tens of thousands of people, mainly children. At this moment more than 3.2 million Somalis need food aid. The sad part of the story is that the food that came as an aid for the poor and hungry Somalis has been stolen from the starving refugees by the goons and thugs and sold in the black market. Although food is available in some big cities of Somalia, yet people are unable to buy it as the prices have tripled because of shortage as well as hoarding.

Recently a news channel named Al-Jazeera revealed that the World Food Programme stockpiled large amounts of food in stores in Mogadishu, while the needy starved in the neighbourhood. Countries like Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia are also engulfed in the current drought; however the level of starvation and the number of deaths in the other areas is nothing when compared to Somalia.
