Strike at the Roots of Hindutva Terror

Nip the evil in the bud. Willing suspension of this wise, time-tested counsel has led to the unchecked, rather nurtured growth of Hindutva terrorism in the country. Blast here and blast there, the ultimate names of suspects that come to the fore are those of Hindutva outfits, groomed with meticulous care by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The arrests of three suspects – Devendra Gupta, Chandrashekhar Barod and Vishnu Prasad Patidar – allegedly belonging to Abhinav Bharat and RSS, for their involvement in the October 11, 2007 Ajmer blasts, and the ongoing hunt for others have only strengthened the often-suppressed idea of active presence of Hindutva terror module in the various parts of the country. These are in fact the bitter fruits of the seeds of hatred and terror sown about a century ago, long before the formation of RSS.

We are concerned not only about the reported involvement of Hindutva outfits in Nanded, Jalna, Parbhani, Malegaon, Hyderabad and Ajmer blasts at various points of time during the last decade. The matter of the greater concern is continued inaction against Hindutva outfits and brazen hushing up of the cases of Hindutva terror, under one pretext or the other, on the part of powers-that-be. The State Home Minister of Rajasthan Shanti Dhariwal has alleged that the state police under former BJP chief minister Vasundhara Raje kept the involvement of Hindutva outfit in Ajmer blasts under wraps. He alleged that the role of the all three arrested suspects was known to the police soon after the blasts. “Not only did they (the BJP) scuttle the investigation in Rajasthan, the party also tried to botch up the case in Madhya Pradesh.”

Dhariwal has informed the media persons that the three suspects arrested this week had links with Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Col. Srikant Prasad Purohit, who have been serving prison terms for their involvement in Malegaon blasts 2008. “They are all connected. Col. Purohit, arrested for Malgaon blast, has confessed that Sunil Joshi had organised the Dargah operation with the help of Devendra Gupta.” Sunil Joshi, former district pracharak (worker) of RSS in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, is said to be the lost link, as he was murdered in Dewas in December 2007.

The revelations made by Dhariwal are startling yet not surprising. Yes, not surprising because these Hindutva terrorists are part of the diabolic design, whose bullets killed the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, and which still poses a threat to the plural structure of our beloved country. The recently published 180-page book I Could Not Save Mahatma Gandhi: Untold Stories from a Witness’s Diary by Professor Jagdishchandra Jain, Chief Prosecution Witness of the Mahatma Gandhi Murder Trial, has made startling revelations about how the powers-that-be scuttled the warning about the Hindutva design to get Gandhiji killed. The prime reason of inaction against Hindutva terror is the presence of RSS-trained minds in power corridors as well as among the ranks of the Congress. So there is no hope for a better tomorrow unless the Congress takes the cudgel to purify its ranks from top to bottom and strike at the roots of Hindutva terror.

The Muslim leadership has already demanded to institute a high-level probe into all the terror blasts in the recent past. Prompt fulfilment of this demand can ensure peaceful and terror-free India.
