The atrocities over the Syrian masses by the despot are yet to show any signs of abatement. Recently the Syrian security forces have reportedly wounded several people who were protesting at the mosque in Damascus. The security forces stormed the Damascus mosque in Kafarsouseh district in the west of the capital and used sound bombs and tear gas in order to quell the protestors. However when the protestors replied by throwing sticks, the security forces responded with live ammunitions, injuring eight people. A lot of blood has been spilled so far by the forces loyal to Assad and the human rights groups say that forces have killed more than 2,200 people since the uprising against the dictator, erupted in March this year.

On August 18, US President Barrack Obama and the European Union have asked Assad to give in to the demands of people and step down. However Assad in an interview broadcasted on state television said that any action against Syria will have greater consequences, greater than they can tolerate.
