Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, during his Friday Khutba laid emphasis on the importance of the Holy Qur’ān. The starting point of the Khutba was the Hadith which says that by reading ALIF LAAM MEEM a person gets three blessings, not one. The Jamaat leader made this Hadith central theme and made the people ponder as to why Allah has put such a great reward for the readers of the Holy Book. He highlighted that if only the reading of this Book will make you earn such a great reward, there must be something of vital importance in the Book.
Turning the pages of the Qur’ān, he drew the attention of the listeners that the Qur’ān is for the guidance of entire humanity. Those who hold fast to it and follow it will never go astray and will always remain onto the right path, that will take them to good, both in this world and in the hereafter. But then how will one follow the Qur’ān if he does not understand it and how will one derive benefits therefrom if he does not know what the Qur’ān is saying.
He requested people to come back to the Qur’ān, and read it with understanding. He cited the Qur’ānic similitude for those who believe in the Qur’ān and those who do not. The similitude was enough for people to think about their own selves and to decide as which category they fall into.
Maulana Omari concluded the Khutba with the Dua that Allah the Exalted may guide the Muslims to the straight path and make them follow the guidance sent by Him as a mercy for the whole of humanity.
