The rector of Taibah University in Madinah, Mansour bin Muhammad Al-Nuzha, opened a four-day conference, in Madinah on March 6, on the role of Arab universities in promoting moderation in Islam among the Arab youth. “The Arab universities have a big responsibility in promoting the concept of moderation in Islam which is one of the basic pillars of ideological security which is fervently being sought by governments and individuals,” said Al-Nuzha. He added that the outcome of the conference will enable Arab universities to play an effective role in consolidating the concept of moderation among their male and female students. “This will further enhance Arab societies,” he added.

Ali Hood Baabbad, assistant secretary general of the Federation of Arab Universities, said the problems presently facing the youth include, among others, extremism and a lack of tolerance, which result from incorrect educational and cultural upbringing. “The proper planning for the future of our Arab countries is based on the good preparation of our youth who should be the resources of the nation to face upcoming challenges,” he added.
