The torture and burning alive of two Muslim youth Junaid(35) and Nasir(26) in a Haryana village has shocked the whole country. The whole world is condemning it. What is more shocking is the fact that the gruesome murder has been perpetrated by eight cowvigilantes allegedly led by Monu Manesar, who is aBajrang Dal leader and face of Cow Protection Task Force of Haryana Government in Gurgaon.

The series oftorturing and killing innocent youths is continuing with impunity. It is being done in the name of protection of cows. Continuation of such heinous crimes has hit headlines all over the world and is further tarnishing the image of India as a democracy and multi-religious plural society. This terrorist trend is continuing even in the year of India’s presidency of G-20 nations.

PMModi speaks constantly about sab ka saath, sab ka vikas and sab ka vishwas. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stresses the common DNA of all Indians and goes to the extent of calling all Indians Hindu. Has he ever condemned the discriminations, atrocities and hate campaigns against Muslims, the largest minority of India?

The twin murders in Haryana were preceded by two to three weeks by another ghastly murder of a Muslim named Warisby the cow vigilantes, which was presented bythe Bajrang Dal-lovingpolice as an accident. Alas, in all these cases you cannot expect fair investigations and appropriate punishment to the culprits.

The vigilantes are well assured that the powers that be are fully behind them and nobody can touch them. A Hindu mahapanchayat was organised in Manesar, which was attended by the leaders of VHP, Bajrang Dal and other militant outfits. They claimed that Monu is innocent and his only crime is that he loves Gau Mata and that the FIR filed against him is false. They have also said that if Rajasthan police attempts to come to Haryana and tries to arrest Monu, it should do this on its own risk. They warned that the police would not return on its feet. A clear warning of taking law into their own hands and breaking the feet of police party. The bigger question is: Should India tolerate this lawlessness, militancy and grave threats the rule of law? According to the Constitution of India, only the state has the power to have weapons, citizens do not have any right to assemble with weapons. How is that Monu and other militants were roaming villages, displaying several dangerous weapons. Only police can determine how many are licenced and how many without licence. Monu’s videos are on social media in which he displays his weapons brazenly and also how he abducts and punishes the alleged cow smugglers. It is time RSS chief,Prime Minister, BJP leaders and related ministers spokeout against the militants, who are killing innocent persons with impunity. This fast radicalisation of large sections of society is a sure recipe for the spread of communal poison and destruction of society. It is time to take action. The supporters of violence should understand that the world is not blind to the destructive policies.
