Nearly 3,000 German police officers carried out raids across 130 sites in 11 states of Germany on December 7, 2022 against suspected far-right ‘extremists’ who allegedly plotted to overthrow the government in an armed coup. As per the officials, 25 people were detained. Prosecutors said that one person was detained in the Austrian town of Kitzbuehel and another in the Italian city of Perugia.
The prosecutors have identified Heinrich XIII P R and Rüdiger von P as ringleaders. Der Spiegel reported the former was a well-known 71-year-old member of a minor German noble family, while the latter was a 69-year-old former paratrooper.
They also said Heinrich XIII P R, whom the group planned to install as Germany’s new leader, had contacted Russian officials with the aim of negotiating a new order in the country once the German government was overthrown. He was allegedly assisted in this by Vitalia B, a Russian woman who was asked to approach Moscow on Heinrich’s behalf. The Kremlin has however denied any Russian involvement in the plan.
Another person detained by police was identified by prosecutors as Birgit Malsack-Winkemann, a former far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) member of the lower house of parliament, the Bundestag. She is suspected of being part of the plot, and of being lined up as the group’s justice minister. Birgit, who was among the 25 people arrested, returned to her role as judge last year and a court has since turned down attempts to dislodge her.
Rüdiger von P is suspected of trying to recruit police officers in northern Germany and of having an eye on army barracks too. Led by Rüdiger von P, the group planned to obtain weapons and conduct firearms training.
The group had already firmed plans to rule Germany with departments covering health, justice and foreign affairs and their plans included carrying out killings of state representatives.
This is not the first time that this extremist group has come to light. On 19 March 2020, BBC, in a report titled “German police raid neo-Nazi Reichsbürger movement nationwide”, said, “German police have raided premises nationwide linked to an anti-Semitic far-right movement called Reichsbürger (Citizens of the Reich). Neo-Nazi propaganda and firearms were seized in the raids, in 10 of Germany’s 16 states.
The targeted group, “United German Peoples and Tribes”, is part of Reichsbürger, whose members reject the German state as a legal entity.”
In October 2021, German police stopped armed members of the extremist right-wing group, Third Way, blocking migrants crossing the Polish border. Eleven people died, including nine from immigrant communities, in February 2020 after a German citizen entered two shisha bars in Hanau and opened fire on customers.
These details speak of a dramatic rise in right-wing crime in Germany, which the country’s Interior Ministry said last year poses the biggest threat to the country’s stability. They smack of the existence of White Supremacists’ Extremism in the west. But the western media, which day in and day out dubbed even a minor act of blast as ‘Islamic terrorism’ since Bill Clinton’s ‘war on terror’, failed rather miserably to call the 25 suspects Christian extremists. Most of the western mainstream media even did not publish the names and images of those arrested. However, bbc.com and abc.net.au have named some of them and published some the images and videos related to these raids. Yet the images of all those arrested are not in public domain. This is travesty of truth and justice as well as of the freedom of press.
