17 SENA ACTIVISTS HELD FOR ATTACK ON IBN LOKMAT

Seventeen Shiv Sena activists have been arrested in Mumbai and six in Pune for attacking journalists and damaging property at offices of Marathi news channel IBN Lokmat in Vikhroli and Pune. They have been charged for attempt to murder, assault to outraging the modesty of women. A Vikhroli metropolitan magistrate’s court sent the culprits to police custody till November 23. The police said they needed to interrogate the accused in their custody to find out at whose behest they had attacked the channel’s office and assaulted staffers. The police have also named Sunil Raut, brother of Sena MP Sanjay Raut, as a wanted accused. A delegation of media persons called on CM Ashok Chavan at his Malabar Hill bungalow and demanded that attacks on journalists be made a non-bailable offence.
