One hundred seventy crore people of India and Pakistan felt relieved on 10th May night when they heard the news of ceasefire. This most populous region of the world was just at the brink of a full-fledged war. Alhamdulillah, may Allah be thanked that the ruling dispensations of these two countries agreed to avoid war and settle their differences through negotiations.
War brings out the worst in human nature and instigates worst atrocities and causes death, destruction and limitless sufferings to common people, who are not at all responsible for what is done by their rulers in the name of these unconnected people.
It is quite possible that there may be some small or big obstacles in implementing the accord. But there is great satisfaction that peace has been restored and there is hope of reconciliation and a peaceful future.
India is passing through a period of economic crisis. Its huge population is facing poverty, joblessness and back-breakinginflation. Likewise,Pakistan is also facingthe worst and unimaginable financial crisis of its history. Just days before it was bailed out by IMF’s loan of $8.5 billion. Its debt liabilities are very huge and they are steadily increasing. These two countries are not in a position to indulge in the foolish luxury of a war. Thank God that within four days good sense prevailed and they accepted an immediate ceasefire to stop hostilities. Let us hope Indo-Pak relations will improve and in future they would never indulge in the foolish game of war.The print and electronic media of both counties, a majority of them, played the dirty game of spreading false news and instigating people and poisoning the minds. Even after the end of hostilities the irresponsible media persons are continuing the cold war.
Wars start in human minds; therefore, it is the responsibility of opinionmakers and intellectuals to talk and write with a deep sense of responsibility. They should not instigate people and never try to arouse hatred and fan sentiments of hate and animosity.
The Pak-based hardliners, it appears, wanted to instigate communal conflicts among Hindus and Muslims of India. But thankfully the Indian citizens refused to fall prey to this obnoxious conspiracy. There was perfect peace and harmony in the whole country. The whole nation stood like a mountain of communal harmony and solidarity.
Now our ruling and opposition parties are engaged in settling their scores and strengthening their prospectsin future elections.
Certain questions require clear answers. They must be examined threadbare. Why there was such a big lapse in security in Pahalgam? Why couldn’t the Government apprehend the handful of terrorist who perpetrated the ghastly massacre of innocent tourists in Pahalgam? Prime Minister Narendra Modi was busy in assuring the citizens that the terrorists would be pursued up to the end of the world and would be given a punishment which would be unconceivable. Why up to now those 4 or 5 or 6 perpetrators remain untraced and unpunished? Who were they and how they have disappeared?
People are also asking why PM Modi did not pay a visit to the heart broken survivors. They also ask why Modi spent one whole day in a film event in Mumbai. They also question why the Vizhinjamseaport in Kerala was inaugurated during this critical period. And why the scheme to conduct cast census was announced in this tumultuous situation. They also ask why Trump made the announcement of ceasefire. Has it been imposed upon India?
The nation has successfully doused the fire of war. Now the tasks ahead are maintaining restraint, conflict resolution, confidence building measures and search for ways and means to build the bridges of understanding,
promoting cooperation to achieve lasting peace and everlasting friendship and good neighbourliness.
