Palestinian lawmaker Jamal Al-Khudari and Arab Knesset member Ahmed Tibi said the Libyan aid ship resumed sailing towards the Gaza Strip after its arrival at the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea. The lawmakers, who are following up the movement of the ship, said in a press release that the ship’s arrival at the island was according to a plan set by the Gaddafi international charity and development Foundation. Khudari noted that the ship is loaded with relief aid and medicines funded by the Gaddafi Foundation in coordination with the popular campaign against the siege that provided lists of Gaza needs. On the other hand, Israeli navy is on high alert as the aid ship heads for the Gaza Strip to break Israel’s naval blockade on the impoverished coastal sliver. It is said that the navy is tracking the ship and has put forces on standby in case it needs to board the vessel. The navy will make contact with the ship while it is still far from Gaza, likely in international waters, and ask it to follow naval vessels into Israeli port of Ashdod. They also noted that Israel has prepared plans to attack the vessel if it refuses or does not agree to sail to Egypt.
