The Indian drubbing at the hands of the Proteas was indeed appalling. But Greg Chappell is being made a big scapegoat in this entire affair. As a coach he has to accept moral responsibility for the team’s recent spate of failures. But the players are no less blameworthy for the ignominy. It will be better if the players concentrate more on the game and perform on the field rather than the TV commercials. It’s very shameful that they are entirely neglecting the very sport due to which they are offered such high-priced modelling assignments. And if a former captain and classic player like Sourav Ganguly could be axed due to poor performance, the players should not have any assumptions that they can go like this for long.
