Abu Malik Ashari relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) said: “Cleanliness is half of faith and al-HamduLillah (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-HamduLillah(Praise be to Allah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one’s faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur’an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.”

Cleanliness is half of faith because one cannot have full devotion to Allah unless the purification of heart is complete. Thus, half of faith is purification of the soul and the rest half is devotion to Allah to the exclusion of devotion to any other deity.Adoration of Allah is the sum and substance of faith; it is, therefore, weighty enough to fill the scale of one’s destiny with virtuous deeds and secure salvation for him.
The whole universe provides a living testimony to the Glory of the Lord.Right from the insignificant to the huge and massive animals, and from the tiny atom to the mighty constellations gliding in the heavens – all represent but a very small aspect of His Infinite Might and Glory and they all hymn His Praises.
Prayer is called Light. It has the same blessings as the moonlight as it guides people onto the right path.
