A Prelude to Illegal Occupation of Mosques

The Ayodhya judgment, if allowed to stand, will be a prelude to the illegal occupation and conversion into temples of hundreds of masjids throughout the country. The Sangh-Parivar is only testing the waters and has not given up the goals of Hindutva.

The Ayodhya judgment, if allowed to stand, will be a prelude to the illegal occupation and conversion into temples of hundreds of masjids throughout the country. The Sangh-Parivar is only testing the waters and has not given up the goals of Hindutva. Justice Khan’s observation quoted in the article is neither here nor there. Muslims must be equal citizens on the basis of the Constitution and the rule of law, but in his own judgment Justice Khan has decided the basic question that wherever Babri Masjid stood, is the birth site of Ram Chanderji, not on the basis of evidence but on the basis of Hindu sentiments based on legends. Thus he has totally undone the universal principle of adverse possession and ignored the existence of the Masjid from 1528 to 1992 by legalising the illegal introduction of the idols in the Babri Masjid. It is our duty both as Muslims and as citizens to carry the ball for a final judicial verdict to let the law prevail. We should not act in fear or anger and take advantage of the opening that the legal order provides.
