I suspect Mr. Praveen Swami’s opinion that Deoband holds a ‘reactionary posture’. Not only has this institution evolved slowly over the time, both in terms of content of disciplines and the disciplinary boundaries; its present shape is different.
It is true that Capitalism may be seen as a ‘civilisation’ but Swami only has a wishful thinking that ‘god’s armies are losing’. How does he decide that? Because Muslim literacy in UP goes up ‘despite’ Deoband?
