(1917-1995)
Born in village Nazra in Darbhanga district of Bihar, Abdul Fattah did his graduation in Mathematics in 1940 from LS College, Muzaffarpur. He qualified Inspector of Police examination but did not join. He opted for teaching job in Government Zila School as a subject teacher of Mathematics. He was inclined towards the socialist movement, was a fan of the writings of Nayaz Fatehpuri. Later while he was posted in Daltonganj Zila School, he came in contact with the books of Maulana Abul A’la Maudoodi and this changed the course of his life. He became its member and was forced to resign from his job. He was a co-founder of Darsgah Islami Darbhanga. Afterwards the Jamaat asked him to join a school in Asansol and thus West Bengal became his area of activity. He was named Amir Halqua of that zone and continued in that position till 1984 when ill health forced him to come back to his village. He was assigned the responsibility of organising the Jamaat in Assam which he did till 1986. But ill health did not permit him to continue as such. He served as the members of Central Advisory and Central Consultative Councils (Shoora and Numaindagan) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
Abdul Fattah was a very good organiser of Jamaat and he was instrumental in introducing and establishing its message in Bengal, Assam and Orissa. He was popular with all political and religious parties of West Bengal. A person who loved and to whom all others reciprocated with affection, admiration and genuine fondness.
