A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation probing the cold blooded staged encounter killing of Ishrat Jahan and others at the outskirt of Ahmedabad in Gujarat on 15 June 2004 has claimed that an official in the Intelligence Bureau had dreamt through this encounter to get a higher post and promotion in his career. But all his dreams were botched up when the court found the encounter a faked one. The official allegedly conspired with a few other accused officers of Ahmedabad police to stage the encounter. The CBI, in its charge sheet, has mentioned that Ishrat and three others were killed in a fake encounter. The probe team has submitted its report to the Director of the Bureau and the Bureau is seeking legal opinion on assessing the culpability of a few more IB officials.
