Launching a scathing counter-attack on Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress on July 29 said that the BJP leader L.K. Advani’s Rath Yatra is the responsible for the nationwide terror blasts. Talking to journalists in the Capital, the Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that besides Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Northeast regions, there were no terror incidents in the country. It was Advani’s Rath Yatra which started communal division and thus terrorism gradually griped the entire country. “If there is something to be responsible for escalating terrorism, it is Advani’s Rath Yatra,” he said.
Reacting sharply to the BJP leader Sushma Swaraj’s statement holding Congress responsible for organising Bangalore and Ahmedabad’s blasts, he said that the timing is uncanny. “Whenever the BJP is in a bind, such incidents happen, be it the blast in Hubli before poll or in Jaipur during last phase of the poll or in Ahmedabad after the trust vote in the Lok Sabha. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the BJP have been always trying to sow tension between Hindus and Muslims,” he alleged.
